American Savings Bank: Consumer Loan Department

American Savings Bank (ASB) is a major financial institution located in Honolulu. It installed a sophisticated Consumer Loan Department imaging system with the stated purpose of reducing their growing records storage costs. ASB’s imaging solution utilizes Unisys LAN based imaging system software.
Prudential Locations Intranet System

In a 1994 AIIM site visit, participants were introduced to the Prudential Locations’ innovative, custom residential properties sales application that incorporates color JPEG compressed photo images in a relational database. Since that visit, Prudential Locations, in the collaboration with ISDI, has re-engineered that application and developed an intranet version that allows users to dynamically query the image and production database.
Legal Aid Society of Hawaii

The Legal Aid Society of Hawaii has implemented an innovative business application to manage client service calls and follow-ups. It is a custom developed PC LAN based system programmed in Foxpro. The applications replaces a manual system and facilitates continued operations with significantly reduced staff assistance.
Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) Corporate Policies and Procedures Intranet

HECO completed a pilot project implementing a corporate electronic documents distribution system using Intranet technologies. The pilot project, focusing on the human resources function, implements a system which enables users to access, lookup and download up to date HECO human resources policies and procedures.
Kuakini Hospital

The Kuakini Hospital imaging system is a store and retrieve system that supports the medical records department. It utilizes IBM AS/400 based imaging applications and optical disk storage devices. The objective of the system is to reduce growing storage space and costs problems.
Title Guaranty of Hawaii Land Title Documents

Title Guaranty Hawaii (TG) is a land title insurance agency writing title insurance for the two largest title underwriters in the United States. Each day, the TG staff look at over 5,000 pages of documents to perform their title search activities. TG completed a large back scanning operation whereby TG has over 15,000,000 pages of electronic images on-line. The images were scanned from microfilm copies of documents recorded at the State of Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances. Title searchers within TG now have access to nearly 10 years of recorded documents and maps in an instant from any image capable work station. TG operates 15 CD juke boxes on a LAN network.
The Joint Intelligence Center Pacific Data and Documents Warehouse Case Study

The Joint Intelligence Center Pacific (JICPAC) is a research and publication center providing information to military forces operating in the Pacific theater. JICPAC has faced major challenges migrating to an open system architecture, putting their reference library on-line, and moving from hardcopy to electronic publication. JICPAC has used commercial software and hardware to build its infrastructure including the research engine (Electronic Filing System), publishing and dissemination of compound documents, and a storage architecture for terabytes of data.
The Judiciary, First Circuit Court

For this imaging system implementation, original documents were scanned into digitized images by a local service bureau into TIFF file format and subsequently loaded into the inVzn system where there were logged and encoded. The inVzn system was then used in the court room to display relevant documents to the judge and jury during the legal proceeding.
The Prudential Locations

The Prudential Locations imaging system is an innovative, custom application that incorporates color JPEG compressed photo images in a residential properties database. Property and property types can be queried and multiple images of selected properties can be viewed. The imaging system utilizes a Windows graphical user interface (GUI), SQL database, and image enabler package. The application is networked and utilizes satellite networking technologies to support a wide area network configuration.
First Insurance

The First Insurance system is a store and retrieve imaging system type that supports the workers compensation claims processing area. It utilizes a PC LAN platform and supports approximately 35 client workstations.
Liberty House

The Liberty House Optika imaging system supports the following accounting process areas: credit, sales, general ledger and account payables accounting. Document types stored in the system include accounting computer outputs, vendor invoices, credit memos and applications, and accounts payable check.
